7 Things to Prepare Before Commissioning a Corporate Website

Website delays sometimes come from late decisions about content rather than design. A logo may be ready, but unclear service descriptions, visitor actions and content responsibilities can keep changing the project. Prepare these details for a more organized start.

1. State the primary goal

Generating quotations, booking appointments, presenting products and establishing credibility require different priorities. Describe the action you want a first-time visitor to take in one sentence. If there are several goals, identify the main one.

2. Define the audience

Existing customers, new prospects, dealers and partners need different information. List their main questions: Where is the service available, how does it work, and how can they contact you? Organize pages around these questions before internal department names.

3. Prepare the page and service list

Home, services, references and contact pages can form a starting structure. Decide whether individual services need separate pages. Build a clear menu rather than adding many headings. Specify page counts and future additions during quotation.

4. Gather copy and images

Prepare current logos, institutional photos, service descriptions and references approved for publication. Assign copywriting responsibility early. Avoid images that misrepresent your work or unsupported success claims. For multilingual sites, identify translation and approval responsibilities.

5. Define contact handling

Decide which team receives forms, calls and messaging requests. Ask only for information needed for the enquiry. Plan the confirmation screen and who responds internally. Before launch, test delivery and follow-up as well as appearance.

6. Review mobile use and content structure

Visitors should easily navigate, read and contact you on a phone. Clear page titles and useful original explanations provide a sound content foundation. Google’s SEO Starter Guide emphasizes understandable, helpful content; design alone cannot guarantee search positions.

7. Assign post-launch responsibilities

Clarify domain accounts, hosting, updates, backups and content changes in writing. Define support scope and pricing for additional development. Understand which tasks your staff can perform after handover.
