Attendance Times Look Wrong: How to Check Tablet and System Clocks

If a student arrives at 08:30 but the record shows another time, lateness reports and guardian messages may be affected. First distinguish an incorrect entry time from the time a message was received. The kiosk, server and management screen may not use the same source of time.

1. Compare event time with message time

Compare the arrival against a staff observation. The event timestamp, time written in the message and delivery time on a phone may be different pieces of information. Do not automatically treat delayed delivery as an incorrect event time. Note the date too, especially for actions around midnight.

2. Inspect the device date and time zone

Check the tablet or computer’s date, clock and time-zone settings. Confirm the expected time zone for a Turkish installation with the software team. A clock that appears correct may still have the wrong date or zone. Authorised staff should make any settings changes.

3. Ask where the timestamp originates

Depending on the installation, the event may be timed by the device, server or another component. Changing the tablet clock therefore does not resolve every issue. Ask support about the timestamp source and display conversion. Avoid changing all devices arbitrarily and complicating the investigation.

4. Check lateness rules independently

A correct event time can coexist with an incorrect scheduled start. Compare settings for normal lessons, weekends and mock exams. Confirm which programme applies to the student. Do not reclassify historical records in bulk before the timing issue and expected schedule are understood.

5. Validate a controlled event afterwards

Compare a new test event with the time noted by staff. Verify consistency in the event, report and message text. Avoid unnecessary notifications to real guardians. If historical records were affected, agree the correction method with support; changing a device setting may not automatically repair previous timestamps.

Review timestamp consistency with BE Soft

Provide support with the example event date, observed time difference and device used to clarify the timestamp source and appropriate checks.
